As part of the hospital based services at Warren District Hospital, Southern Forests Medical Centre does offer an anaesthetic service. Dr Peter Wutchak is a WA trained GP anaesthetist who provides a range of anaesthetic techniques depending on the surgical requirements. He is also able to perform epidural blocks for women in labour or requiring a caesarean section. In addition there is also a therapeutic epidural option available for suitable patients with chronic back pain.

 

All patients requiring elective surgery are required to make a pre-anaesthetic check appointment their anaesthetist. At this appointment, the anaesthetic risk will be evaluated and discussion regarding the techniqure planned including risks or complications. Patients are requested to provide all important medical information including a list of all medication, allergies and relevant past medical history including previous anaesthetic complications.
